Latrobe, PA – The National Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association have endorsed Democrat Bibiana Boerio to represent Pennsylvania’s 14th congressional district, believing her to be the candidate who will stand up for Pennsylvania’s children and help them receive the sound education they deserve.
This endorsement follows that of the AFL-CIO in June.
“We thank Bibiana for her commitment to policies that foster great public schools for every child,” said Joe Scheuermann, Chairman, PSEA’s Political Action Committee, and a math teacher at Hempfield High School. “Bibiana’s emphasis on the value of a sound education is made clear by the fact that it is a critical component of her campaign platform: she believes all Pennsylvanians – and Americans – deserve a good education. That starts with our public schools. We need someone like Bibiana representing our children and our schools in Washington, and we are thrilled to endorse her to be the next Member of Congress representing Southwestern PA.”
“I am honored to receive the NEA’s endorsement, an important organization that represents both our state’s educators and students. I have always believed that all Americans deserve quality, affordable education and we need to be making the appropriate kind of investment in education so that our children can succeed,” said Bibiana Boerio, Democratic nominee for PA-14. “Education is key to stronger, more economically-sound communities and a core reason why I am running for Congress. I thank the NEA and PSEA for their support and endorsement.”
The NEA Fund for Children and Public Education is the political voice for NEA members around the country. The National Education Association is the nation’s largest professional employee organization, representing three million elementary and secondary teachers, higher education faculty, education support professionals, school administrators, retired educators and students preparing to become teachers. The NEA Fund supports candidates, regardless of political affiliation, who have clearly demonstrated their commitment to children and public education.
The Pennsylvania State Education Association is the state chapter of NEA and represents the labor, policy, and professional interests of its members in Pennsylvania. PSEA membership is comprised of more than 187,000 teachers, educational support professionals, counselors, curriculum specialists, librarians, healthcare workers, school nurses, school dental hygienists, school psychologists, school social workers, vocational-technical instructors, community college and junior college educators, students and retirees.
Bibiana Boerio is the Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania’s 14th Congressional District, which is comprised of Westmoreland, Fayette, Greene and Washington Counties. A native of Latrobe, PA, she is running for Congress because she believes the people of Southwestern PA want government to work for them. She is committed to enabling job creation, fighting for Social Security and Medicare, and strengthening educational opportunities for all, understanding that this is what will improve the local quality of life and enable communities to succeed.
