PA District 14’s Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress brings competence, character, compassion and civility to her run for congressional seat.

Latrobe, Pennsylvania; May 22, 2018.  – Bibiana Boerio, who decisively won the Democratic nomination in the newly created 14th Congressional District said today she has no doubt the Fall campaign will be competitive despite predictions from political insiders that the seat will be taken by the GOP.

“This district is made up of voters who believe in core democratic values.  Many of them are like my dad, who was a union skilled tradesman, and my mom, who was a home-maker.  They are my family and my friends. They are my neighbors and my colleagues. They have been forgotten for years. NO MORE.  I live in this district and I am ready to represent them,” said Boerio, whose GOP opponent lives in Allegheny County, outside the newly-created district comprised of all of Fayette, Greene, Washington and most of Westmoreland counties.

Boerio’s win is the story of the hometown kid who made good in international business, returned home to Westmoreland County, and become committed to helping improve her community.

“I have spent three decades driving change in the auto industry working with labor and management; in public service, representing the people of Pennsylvania; and in education, leading Seton Hill University which serves so many families who live in the congressional district.”

During the primary campaign, Boerio received the endorsement from the Washington Observer-Reporter which said, “We believe she should be able to reach across the aisle and actually get things done.”

Her experience includes getting things done in:

  • Business:  more than 30 years at Ford Motor Company where she started as an entry level accounting analyst in Ford’s Finance Staff and worked her way up to leadership positions in different business units including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Ford Motor Credit Company and Managing Director for Jaguar Cars, Ltd.
  • Public Service on Capitol Hill:  3 years as Chief of Staff for former U.S. Representative and U.S. Navy Admiral (ret.) Joe Sestak where she worked on important legislation, such as the Affordable Care Act and assisted Joe’s constituents including senior citizens who had been defrauded in a bank telemarketing scheme, veterans who needed help with their VA benefits, families who were fighting to keep their houses, and students who needed help with their student loans;
  • Education:  Interim president of Seton Hill College in Greensburg, and membership on several councils advising secondary and higher educational institutions;
  • Community Service:  Numerous advisory and volunteer activities with Community Service organizations in western Pennsylvania and beyond.

Boerio attributes her success to the support of the community that elected her, including the many volunteers in every county who provided energy, time and encouragement throughout the eight weeks of her campaign. After gathering more than 1,900 signatures in less than 100 hours, Boerio was the first Congressional candidate in Pennsylvania to be officially recognized on the May 15 Primary ballot. She believes these same factors can propel a victory in November.
